Comedian-turned-actress Sumukhi Suresh, who launched her own content platform named “Motormouth”, to create more space for female voices in the entertainment space, says mediocre content doesn’t find an audience, because only “too good” or “too bad”. ‘ content attracts all eyes.

Sharing the thought behind ‘Motormouth’, Sumukhi told IANS: “We have all realized that throughout the pandemic writers and content creators have become the busiest people in the creative space. We have seen how many content creators have started to proliferate over the past two years.

Sumukhi Suresh said, “The fun fact is that only two types of content work in the digital space, it’s either too good or too bad. You have to watch content that is too good because of peer pressure, because a good movie/story/content gets attention through word of mouth. And also if the content is too bad, we tend to watch together and complain! So basically there is no room for mediocrity.

So where does ‘Motormouth’ fit in? Sumukhi Suresh told IANS, “It’s meant to encourage too good content from various writers and mostly female writers. I create content with a few other writers and we work in a writers room. So I thought that I might as well give it a name and welcome more like-minded talent to develop stories and possibly approach production houses.

“Motormouth” is a story marketplace and content house that will create and promote shows, movies, and a variety of other content.

Sumukhi is known for her stand-up comedy shows at live concerts, for participating in and mentoring shows such as “Comicstaan” and “One Mic Stand”, and for creating the Amazon Prime Video show “Pushpavalli”. where she made her acting debut.

When asked why she felt the need to create more space for female content creators and storytellers, Sumukhi said, “I think it’s very important to have space for women in the entertainment. And when I say “voice”, it doesn’t have to be a protest or a social message all the time; it can only be fun!

“Writing jokes about girls and taking them with a grain of salt, laughing at them is just as fun! To me, four girls getting together and having their own jokes is just as feminist! Of course, the conversation about gender equality is important, but we can deliver the message as entertainment.

Sumukhi Suresh said, “That’s why more female voices should come out. Now when someone calls me a “comedian” I don’t mind because seeing me, if a girl somewhere gets inspired and writes her own story, that’s the end goal I want to reach !”
