NBC grants NYSC approval for direct broadcast satellite, TV license – The Sun Nigeria

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) an operational license to launch Direct Broadcast Satellite (BSB) and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV).

NBC Chief Executive Malam Balarabe Shehu Ilela, who presented the document to NYSC Chief Executive Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim in Abuja on Wednesday, said the license for digital satellite broadcasting would give more voice on the program “to tell the NYSC story and its tremendous accomplishments around the world”.

The NBC CEO said the NYSC, as one of the successful achievements of the Gowon administration, has achieved its goal of uniting the country in several ways, adding that it has contributed immensely to national development.

He further added that the commission is responsible for regulating the media industry in the country and issuing a government-approved operating license.

“The Commission normally grants a license in trust and we believe it will be used for the purpose for which it was given. We are very proud to be part of your progress. With someone like you, we are sure that our license is in good hands,” said lela.

The NBC CEO also used the forum to congratulate the NYSC general manager on his recent promotion to major general.

Earlier in his remarks, NYSC CEO Major General Ibrahim said that since taking office he has been passionate about the program having its own radio and television stations, stating that he is quite satisfying that the dream has come true.

He assured that the Program would use the opportunity of the broadcast station to promote its programs, including government policies and programs.
