City of Chelmsford: Cable television license renewal procedure




The City of Chelmsford Board of Directors, as the cable television licensing authority under MGL 166A, s. 1, will hold a public cable license renewal confirmation hearing on November 1, 2021 at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 50 Billerica Road, Chelmsford as part of the city’s license renewal process for Comcast and Verizon New England. Chelmsford’s Comcast and Verizon cable licenses expire on March 31, 2024 (Comcast) and October 31, 2024 (Verizon), respectively. The Federal Cable Act, 47 USC 546, requires a public process to determine the cable community’s needs and interests as part of the license renewal process for expiring cable licenses. Public comment is invited regarding the city’s Comcast and Verizon license renewal needs and regarding the cable operator’s past performance.

Those interested can attend and participate directly in person or remotely via an electronic platform by desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. The link for the virtual meeting is on the meeting agenda displayed after 4:00 p.m. on October 28.
